What types of water do you offer?
We offer the following four types of bottled water:
Borrego Springs Drinking Water -- It has a clean, crisp taste.
Borrego Springs Fluoridated Water -- It offers the same great taste as our drinking water, with added fluoride to help prevent tooth decay.
Borrego Springs Purified Drinking Water -- It's the perfect choice if you prefer mineral-free water.
Borrego Springs Mountain Spring Water -- It's a natural, complete with nature's own mineral balance and flavoring. It comes from only pristine mountain sources licensed by the State of California Food and Drug Branch.
How is your water purified?
We follow a multi-step purification process to ensure the great, pure taste of our drinking water.
Borrego Springs Drinking Water: We conduct a multi-step process including carbon filtration to remove unwanted particles; reverse osmosis to remove most dissolved solids and a final ozonation to ensure purity. The result? High-quality, delicious water.
Borrego Springs Fluoridated Water: After the filtration process we add fluoride, according to FDA guidelines, to our finished Borrego Springs Drinking Water.
Borrego Springs Purified Water: This is water in its purest form with essentially all the minerals removed. The Drinking water is processed further by deionization to remove all remaining salts and minerals. It is calorie-free and sugar-free.
Borrego Springs Mountain Spring Water: Our Spring Water is sourced from the pristine Laguna and Palomar mountains in San Diego County. We remove unwanted particles through carbon and micron filtration. To ensure purity we add a process called ozonation. Ozone is bubbled through the water to ensure it's bacteriologically safe.
How does drinking water differ from tap water?
Normally, tap water is processed differently. It is filtered, but it does not pass through purification systems such as deionization and/or reverse osmosis. Also, almost all tap water is chlorinated to kill bacteria, and the mineral levels in tap water may be inconsistent and are typically higher than those in our bottled water.
How much bottled water should you store for emergencies?
Experts recommend that you should store one gallon per person per day for up to a week.
What is the difference between purified and distilled water?
Purified and distilled water are essentially the same product -- water in its purest form with essentially all the minerals removed. The difference is in the process used to remove the minerals. Distillation involves a heating process that converts water into steam, leaving the minerals or impurities behind. Water processed by this method is called distilled water. However, the same result can be achieved by using deionization and reverse osmosis, water processed by these methods is called purified water.
How much water should you drink per day?
Experts recommend that you should drink eight, 8-ounce servings of water each day. If you are active or the weather is warm, drink an additional one to two servings to stay hydrated.
Where can I buy your water?
In addition to home and office delivery, our bottled water is found on store shelves in Borrego Springs, Julian, Santa Ysabel, and selected retail stores in San Diego and Imperial counties.
How is bottled water different from tap water?
Consistent quality and taste are two of the principle differences between bottled water and tap water. Quality is in every container of bottled water. It's consistent and it is inspected and monitored by governmental and private laboratories. Tap water can be inconsistent. While bottled water originates from protected sources (75% from underground aquifers and springs), tap water comes mostly from rivers and lakes. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reported that hundreds of tap water sources have failed to meet minimum standards.
Is bottled water regulated differently from tap water?
Yes. Bottled water is regulated by FDA as a food product and must meet all applicable food packaging regulations. Tap water is regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and is regarded as a utility.
What is the proper way to store bottled water?
Bottled water should be stored in a cool (i.e. room temperature), dry environment away from chemicals such as household cleaning products and away from solvents such as gasoline, paint thinners and other toxic materials.
